Census Statistics Research Guide: Historical Statistical Pubs.-Cities & Towns

Decennial Census Data for Cities and Towns, including Brunswick, Maine

The tables below list some of the Decennial Census Bureau publications in which statistics for cities, towns, townships, minor civil divisions, and other similar geographies in the U.S. for 1790-1870 can be found. Page numbers are also provided for statistics for Brunswick, Maine.

A given decennial publication may include data for 2 or more decennial censuses. Inclusion of data from an earlier Census may signal a revision in the earlier data. When a publication is available in several editions, I have tried to link to just one of them.

Note: The town of Brunswick, Maine, seems to have been categorized by the Census Bureau over the years as a Town, a Minor Civil Division, and a County Subdivision. The village of Brunswick, Maine, seems to have been categorized as a Village and a Census Designated Place.
