Special Collections & Archives offers reserachers access to a broad and diverse range of materials about Brunswick and the surrounding towns and regions, including Bath, Phippsburg, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Freeport, North Yarmouth, Harpswell, and Topsham. This guide provides an introduction to some of the holdings that are particularly strong in local history. Researchers should also consult the library catalog and the department's Archives and Manuscripts database for additional materials.
Please note: the department also holds a large collection of uncataloged ephemera arranged by location. Ask staff for more information.
The George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) collects, preserves, and makes available unique rare books, manuscripts, historical College records, and increasingly, digital collections. Students, scholars, and all with an interest are invited to explore and learn from these world-class collections through their own research as well as our varied exhibits, instructional sessions, and public programs.
