Introduction

The majority of primary sources pertaining to Bowdoin's buildings and campus are located and preserved in the Library's George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives. This guides provide an overview of the major manuscript collections and archival record groups that document the design and construction of the college's buildings from the early 19th century to the present day.  Also included here is a list of books that provide a good starting point for researching the architecture of the college, and links to various sources for visual materials.
