To find histories of particular government agencies in Compass, do a keyword search using these searches as models, substituting the name of the agency of interest:

  • "United States Environmental Protection Agency" AND histor*
  • "United States Department of Justice" AND histor*
  • "United States Bureau of the Census" AND histor*

To retrieve a volume from a series of similarly named agency histories, search Internet Archive on the following, substituting a unique word from the agency's name for [NAME]:
"history activities and organization" AND [NAME]

Society for History in the Federal Government. "History@fedgov links to every existing history page created by an agency of the federal government, from Cabinet departments to the smallest independent commissions."
